Commission a Portrait,
Landscape or Abstract Painting

Karen Sperling paints commissioned portraits and landscapes from photos using acrylics, oils or mixed media. Prices vary based on the medium used for the painting.

Karen is also available to paint commissioned abstract paintings.

Your photo or hers?

Karen can expertly create a portrait or landscape painting from one of your photos, whether it's of a loved one that you would like to see turned into a treasured painting or a photo of a favorite home or a memorable trip that you would like Karen to turn into an exquisite keepsake work of art.

If you'd like to supply the photo for the painting, Karen will help you select a photo that is a great candidate to be turned into a wonderful painting. If you didn't take the photo yourself, please be sure to have permission from the photo's copyright holder to use the photo as the basis for a painting.

If you don't have a photo that you'd like to use, you can arrange a photography session in which Karen will take photos to be used as the basis for either portrait or landscape paintings. This photo session is included free of charge as part of the painting commission fee. After the photography session, you and Karen will select a photo that will result in the best painting.

You can send in a photo to be turned into a portrait or landscape painting from anywhere in the world. Karen is also available to travel anywhere in the world to create the photograph (additional travel fees will apply). Karen is based in Sherman Oaks, CA (Los Angeles).

Preliminary Sketch

After you pay a non-refundable 50% deposit, Karen will create a preliminary sketch for the final painting, indicating colors and composition so you can get an idea of what the final painting will look like and offer any additional comments and input.

Completion

Karen then creates the painting based on the photo and on the preliminary sketch and emails you a photo of the finished painting. After you send the final payment, you receive your beautiful painting to cherish forever.

Photo Finish

Karen is also available for photography sessions without paintings.
