Hi! I’m Karen Sperling.
I wrote the original Corel Painter manuals and I’ve been painting with it and teaching it ever since.

I’ve also been painting with Adobe Photoshop almost as long.

I am happy to announce that I have created a new, online community for turning photos into paintings:

The Artistry Academy of

Painting for Photographers!

Welcome!

I have taught how to turn photos into paintings for decades, everywhere from Imaging USA and WPPI to PPA affiliates, including this class pictured from M.A.R.S., in addition to my

in-person Artistry Retreats. And I have been creating instructional materials as long, including my Artistry videos and webinars and my Painting for Photographers books.

I have been painting commissioned paintings for decades and I have exhibited my art in New York and during Art Basel Miami Beach.

New Classes,

Experienced

instructor

And now I can help you learn to

turn your photos into paintings

in an online community!

Join like-minded Artistry Academy members as you all learn to turn photos into paintings together, virtually, with video classes, Zoom meetings and online forums!

Start with some basic steps, add some art concepts and sprinkle with practice, and voilà! You’re turning your photos into paintings in Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop!

It isn’t that easy, you say… But it is! Many instructors like to make it seem complicated to paint based on photos in Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop. But I believe if I can paint, so can you! My Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop lessons result from my unique background as a professional photographer,

artist, writer and editor, which means I not only know how to create paintings, but I also know how to explain how they’re done.

The Artistry Academy of Painting for Photographers will get you turning photos into paintings faster than you can say giclée!

whether you use Corel painter or adobe photoshop, I’ve got you covered

The Artistry Academy of Painting for Photographers is for you whether you use Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter, or both.

You will learn tools and techniques for turning photos into paintings with either software program in addition to the art concepts and color theories practiced by artists through the centuries. Also covered will be compositing and retouching to prepare photos to be painted.

The Artistry Academy of Painting for Photographers is for photographers who would like to offer paintings based on their photos to their clients.

The Academy is also for hobbyists who would like to paint their photos of their kids, grandkids, travels and interests.
The Artistry Academy of
Painting for Photographers is not for teachers—sorry. Your job as a teacher is to figure out on your own what to teach.
